Festive Season 2020

Decking the hall with boughs of Holly, this festive season at Llangoed Hall is almost upon us, with an open invitation to simply have the most wonderful Christmas and New Year at this beautiful and historic Welsh country house.

Festive magic and charm combine to transform the exclusive 23-bedroom hotel in a sparkling seasonal bauble nestling amid 17 acres, wrapped within the luscious Wye Valley.

A place soaked in history and tradition – ‘Tis the season to be jolly and Llangoed Hall guests will be just that, thanks to plentiful crackling log fires, Christmas trees and excellent warm and friendly personal service.

Join us to toast in 2019, and enjoy an evening of sparkle, fizz and fun.

Llangoed Hall gets things popping in fine style with a Champagne reception and follows that up with a magnificent six- course Black-Tie Gala dinner and entertainment, rounding off with a glass of bubbly at midnight and a Highland piper and firework display to see the New Year in, in style.

Pentonbridge Inn

We use the very best produce foraged, grown, fished, farmed and caught from the land and sea around us. From the kitchen we serve a familiar menu of pub favourites. No compromise is made with the ingredients, just comfort food made to delight. We also have local ale on tap, a dartboard for amusement, a roaring fire to warm the cockles and a bowl of water for the dog.

We have nine beautifully appointed bedrooms both in the original building and in the connected converted barn. Most have views over the stunning Cumbrian countryside, and all take their name from a Border Reivers clan infamous for raiding and marauding their neighbours.

We produce the majority of our fruit, vegetables and herbs less than five miles away in our Victorian walled kitchen garden at Netherby Hall. The gardens were established by the Graham family who lived at the Hall for four centuries and brought back to its former glory in order to supply the inn by current owners Margo and Gerald Smith, alongside head gardener Mark Jeffery.

Head gardener, Mark has worked closely with our chefs, since the start of 2017 to design a kitchen garden in harmony with the requirements of the inn’s kitchen. The garden has been laid out as it might have been in Victorian times with additional modern crop varieties being introduced at the request of the chefs to ensure an exciting and varied menu at the inn.

In our first year, we enjoyed excellent crops of cabbages, cauliflower, kale, onions, garlic, leeks, lettuces and other salads in particular and we are looking forward to a bumper pumpkin season.

It’s that time again…..Time to sort organise that office Christmas party

The annual Christmas party serves a very important purpose, it’s such a fantastic opportunity for staff and management to let their hair down and have a good time, an opportunity that should not be brushed to one side and forgotten about.

And with one in five employees last year having reported that their company did not have a Christmas party, the office Christmas party has never been more necessary. But with uncertainty still hanging over the current economic climate, it is understandable why many companies may be looking carefully at their Christmas party, and questioning how necessary it is. But there are, however, plenty of reasons why the Christmas party should be made top priority this year:

For nearly all staff, the Christmas party is something to look forward to for many months, and the highlight of the working year. The Christmas party is a fantastic opportunity to recognize the hard work of the last year, and to celebrate the success of the staff and the achievements of the company. You yourself may have had a difficult year, and if that is the case, then it is more important now than ever before that you celebrate coming through hard times with an end of year celebration. The Christmas party is an excellent exercise in team building.  It also places a positive end to a challenging year and a positive start to a better year ahead.
